Hello – apologies in advance as I imagine this must have been asked before but scouring online has yielded no results…
I see from BA’s T&Cs that their cancellation policy is fairly straightforward for a 241 voucher i.e. 24 hours before departure then your Companion Voucher will be re-issued but if within 24 hours of travel then you lose it. Fair enough.
But I can’t see what the amendment rules are. I may need to delay flight until the weekend. Flight is currently booked for Thursday and can make changes at the moment no probs. Does anyone know what the latest I could leave it to make a change? Does a change of date also require it to be made more than 24 hours before departure?
Many thanks
That is, or was, the standard cancellation timescale for any reward booking. However, the FTV process effectively changed that as you could apply for a FTV (which could then be cancelled later) right up until check in closes.
There has clearly been a change to the FTV process, and they now say that FTV claims for reward bookings will result in refunds rather than FTVs, yet it still says you can apply for an FTV until check in closes.
Check out this page https://www.britishairways.com/en-gb/information/incident/coronavirus/vouchers-refunds#cancel – scroll down to ‘Need to cancel your flight and claim a voucher?’ and then find the Ts&Cs immediately below that. Make your own decisions but it does say:
5. Date changes must be made, or vouchers requested before check-in closes
I believe you can still amend a 2-4-1 booking to a different date but I think you might have to phone to do it. You might first try amending it online in MMB. Alternatively apply for a FTV up to close of check in but be aware you will have to phone BA to rebook. FTVs containing 2-4-1s currently do not get the Avios refunded. Note you will get an email with two 125 numbers . That is it so keep your original booking receipt for the amount of cash and number of Avios you paid. You can pay extra and more Avios if you want to change to a more expensive destination
FTVs containing 2-4-1s currently do not get the Avios refunded.
All change – see my post above and today’s HFP article. Reward FTVs are no longer it seems.
