I have a cash booking with BA but on Qatar metal departing Heathrow next weekend, but with the T4 strike risk managed to also book reward flights for the same dates but departing Gatwick instead on BA. For a £35 cancellation fee its worth the piece of mind for me if the strikes come to nothing.
Will BA even notice I have 2 flights on the same dates that would be impossible to take both of, or will they even care?
It could become an issue for the return
I remember once making a return booking Manchester to London, but as I needed to be in London earlier so ended up getting the train for the outward leg of the journey. When I tried to check in for my return flight I was unable to, as I had not shown for the outbound flight, they cancelled the whole booking.
They may have changed policy since then though, as this was around a decade ago
You cannot book yourself multiple times on the same flight (well, you can try but they may find out and cancel you). But nobody cares if you have multiple bookings on the same day.
The issue mentioned by @ClubSmed is different. If you miss your outward journey you cannot take the return one as you waived your whole itinerary.
I’m going to cancel the reward booking before T24 hrs if there is no issues with the cash booking so won’t have any concerns about return leg issues.
