I was looking at flights from JFK to London and there seem to be two 777s that depart at the same time BA0116 and BA2272, landing within 10 minutes of each other. Is this right, or is it some sort of glitch? Or are they actually the same aircraft?
Seems odd.
Not odd! One to LHR the other LGW 😁
It is quite odd seeing as JFK-LGW isn’t a route! It has been in the past but not for a good few years.
I suspect it is to rotate an aircraft from LHR to LGW. Looking at Plane Finder, BA2272 seems to be used for a lot of positioning flights.
It is a route! 2273 outbound 2272 inbound commencing May 2022.
Well it’s more if a recommencement as it only stopped in the spring of 2020 because of you know what.
I used to get tempted by it but BA used an un refurbished CW cabin on it and it also seemed to get a lot of on the day cancellations which caused a rush to Heathrow. So I hope both of those aspects are no more.

I doubt those things will change. BA still hasn’t made a committent to refurbishing the Gatwick fleet with Club Suite
