Forums Hotel loyalty schemes Hilton Honors 2 nights cheaper than 1 night?

  • 89 posts

I stay at the Hilton a lot, but today I’ve noticed something strange with the pricing not making any sense.

How can 1 night cost £312, but 2 nights only cost £264 in total on the same day???

It’s not making any sense to me, could someone explain why it’s so much cheaper staying for 2 nights than just staying for 1?

    Thanks

Edit: this is via Amex Global Business Travel which I have to use when booking hotel/flights etc… for work.

Hilton in particular can price nights differently alone vs in different combos of nights

Is there anything special happening in the area on the 12th? Maybe Hilton have bumped up prices for that one night, and not for multiple nights.

This isn’t a direct booking with Hilton though right? The website isn’t Hilton. Could it just be a quirk of how inventory is released to third party sites?

I’ve checked and I don’t see any events on at the arena or stadium. I just don’t understand the pricing model as surely if the price for 1 night is £300+ but if you book for 2 nights and the same date used as the £300+ night then surely the price for 2 nights should be more, no cheaper.

I feel like I’m complaining, I’m not I just don’t understand the pricing model used and more for awareness for others to see if adding an extra night (if your travel allows it) means it’s cheaper for you to stay longer.

Hilton are the only chain (as far as I’m aware) that change the rate depending on the combination of check in and check out date. They actually state this clearly in their Ts & Cs

That does throw up some crazy anomalies where you can book for example mon-wed and then wed-fri at a fraction of the price of a mon-fri stay. I used it to my advantage in Vegas a few years ago by booking wed-sat even though I was leaving on the friday (I just made sure not to checkout when I left). Saved myself $200 by booking the extra day.

Just because you can’t see a local event doesn’t mean 90% of the hotel isn’t already booked out for a company event, wedding etc.

Actually I just checked on h.com and if you select the 12th alone it’s sold out, but 11-13 or 12-14 will price ok. So it’s certainly availability of room/housekeeping resource to make up the room after some event or other.

Looks like it’s a corporate rate that’s been triggered, I know the platform you’re using, it’s a generic corporate booking tool. Really bad and hard to figure out details but I wouldn’t mind betting that’s it
