Forums Frequent flyer programs The British Airways Club 241 Companion Voucher – Adding Return Leg

  • 3 posts

    Hi,
I’ve scoured the forum and read the various 241 guides over & over but I can’t find the answer to my specific question.

I want to book a return flight using my 241 voucher, but at present there are only outbound flights available to my chosen destination.

I want to secure the outbound seats, so I’d like to initially book a one-way flight and then add a return if/when a redemption seat becomes available (we are flexible re the return date – and if a seat doesn’t become available then I will book a return from an alternate airport which has plenty of availability).

I know I’ll have to call BA to do this, but will I be charged any fee to add a return onto my initial one-way 241 voucher booking? (travel will be within the next month).

Apologies if this question has been answered before. Thanks in advance.

If the outbound was booked before the inbound flight was bookable, there is no fee to pay. Sometimes they forget and mention a fee, if that happens point out the return wasnt bookable and the fee wont be charged.

The inbound flight is bookable – there are just no redemption seats currently available. So therefore I assume I will be charged £35pp if I add a return leg to my initial 241 one-way booking.

    Thanks.

There’s no charge if you booked the outbound before the inbound was released.

There is loads of info about this here – the dedicated thread on booking the inbound is very helpful if you have time to trawl through the posts.

The issue you may have is that you may get an agent who refuses to apply the 241 because both sectors had been released at the time you booked the outbound (if this is the case) You can try HUACA, however BA is technically correct as per the Ts & Cs.

The other option would be to cancel your outbound, hope the seats go back into the inventory, and rebook the whole itinerary if inbound seats become available.

You don’t say what your destination is, but extra award seats may be available with the 241 if you start from a regional airport (also lots on here about this).
