Forums Frequent flyer programs Virgin Flying Club 241 – Different Cabins for Outbound then Return for 2 people – Possible?

  • 36 posts

I just about understand the various rules for the 241 upgrade voucher (Red status) and have read through various threads, though I cannot quite find the answer I am looking for. I even looked at the Virgin detailed T&Cs. Looking far ahead, so no dates or routes yet in mind but assume US/Caribbean.

The intention would be for two of us to travel return from the UK, outbound Economy or PE, return Upper as we are not too fussed about cabin outbound.

Now I know that Economy/PE return is true 2-4-1, and an Upper is a 50% points discount only for the second traveller. But is it possible to split as suggested, and would therefore the return leg be half the usual base points for a return? And am I right in thinking the fees are much lower for a one-way UC leg to the UK?

I know there are other ways of splitting bookings etc but I prefer to do everything on one booking where possible for relative simplicity.

    Hi @adwoot,

Yes, this is possible. I’ve done this myself.
You can mix cabins and each leg would be half the number points for a normal return.
You still would pay 50% points for the second passenger if booking UC (unless you are Silver/Gold).

Yes that’s also correct, the taxes on the return leg are normally less than outbound.

    Cheers.

Dummy bookings would be most accurate. SeatSpy also gives an indication but as one ways (but it’s actually lower booking as a return to some destinations eg USA).
