I have a 241 flight LHR to HkG that’s just been cancelled by BA.
If I can find a replacement flight on Cathay, do I have the right to get BA to rebook the flight there, flying economy on the way out and business on the way back?
If not, what are my other options?
Many thanks
Outgoing (economy) flight early November 2022. Incoming flight (on business) late Nov is actually not cancelled yet. Am I best not doing anything until the incoming flight gets cancelled, which is pretty likely?
As it’s not until November, I would wait a few days to see if any alternative options appear in MMB. Don’t go booking yourself on another flight yet, and don’t accept a refund.
If nothing appears in MMB you will need to call them to outline your options, but again don’t accept a refund. If the options don’t work for you, come back here for more advice.

Ok thanks. MMB?

As soon as any flight on your ticket gets cancelled then your right to reroute applies to the whole ticket. No you don’t have to wait until the return gets cancelled if it’s on the same ticket you can reroute it while you’re sorting out your outbound. Plus gets you a second bite of the cherry if another flight still on your ticket gets cancelled later – again you could decide you want to choose different reroute date for the whole thing.
Thanks all. As both flights are now cancelled I have called BA (currently on hold with them)
They are saying as my flights aren’t till November their policy won’t allow changing onto Cathay (their policy will only allow for flights cancelled up until September)
Should I keep pushing to be put on the Cathay flights? They are the only direct ones..
