Discuss today's stories:
A few weeks ago I booked 2 return flights from LHR to YVR for Jan ’24 using a BAPP companion voucher. At the time of booking I was able to book the outbound in PE but there was only availability in economy on the inbound date (we ideally wanted PE). Didn’t want to risk the economy seats going as we have no flexibility on the dates so booked inbound in economy. A couple of days ago 2 PE seats came back into the inventory so I rang BA yesterday and they secured the new PE tickets. The new fare class of WT+ showed instantly in MMB, the Avios have been taken and the payment is showing on my BAPP. Weirdly though, when I go into MMB and look at the luggage, it is still only showing as 1 hold bag per person on the inbound rather than 2. Will this update in time or should I get onto BA about it? Part of the benefit for us of going PE both ways is the additional luggage as we are taking 2 pairs of skis, poles, boots and helmets with us. If anyone has experienced similar when upgrading cabins on 241s please let me know how it panned out! Obviously January is ages away so it’s not urgent but want to get it sorted at some point.
There won’t be an issue so don’t fret, nobody is going to check your booking. Your luggage allowance relates to the cabin you’re travelling in which should be obvious to the staff at bag drop, but in the event that they don’t know how much you’re entitled to, just refer them to the section on ba.com where it details what you can take in PE. I keep screenshots of stuff like this on my phone as I’ve had the occasional disagreement with airport staff about BA policies!
@NorthernLass thanks for the reassurance, I will take some screenshots and save them to my phone with the rest of the trip itinerary documents to avoid any sagas at Heathrow! I was just concerned that it might prove a complication given we’ll have big ski bags to take to excess baggage but hopefully that won’t happen if, as you say, the staff at bag drop can see our ticket class is WT+. Thank you!
