Morning all, seeking some advice/guidance please on the following reward search for Cairo I am doing. Looking to travel end of Jan23 and have some 241 (old style and new style) that I wish to make use of.
Priced up a simple reward booking in economy which required 10k Avios + £184.96; then searched using the newish solo traveller 241 option which strangely prices up at £10k Avios and £183.66….I was hoping/expecting the voucher to yield some form of saving but unsure which of these prices is ‘wrong’. If indeed one is?
Wouldn’t consider myself an Avios newbie but clearly I am doing something wrong here…!
Most likely you’ve missed it automatically selecting using your voucher when you thought it wasn’t. Both prices are using the new voucher with maximum Avios.
My guess is the difference in price is caused by changing foreign exchange. Did you do both searches at the same time?
I just had a look and without voucher I’m getting 20000 Avios + £ 187.68. With voucher it is 10000 Avios + £ 187.68.
Both are return flights using maximum Avios and minimum cash options. For what it’s worth this isn’t a great use of a new voucher as the 10,000 Avios saving is worth £80-£100 (depending on your personal valuation) whereas the Amex card has an annual fee of £250!
