Amex Brighton are saying you do not get your sign up bonus until 3 months after you have spent the relevant amount.
Is this a change in their t&Cs?
No.
The T&C do actually say this and always have. However, that’s not how Amex operates in reality.
All it means is that, if you bonus does not arrive instantly on hitting the threshold, Amex will refuse to investigate until the three months is up – by which point, if you’re lucky, whatever IT glitch caused the original issue will have been fixed.
This did happen to me once with a Plat. Slightly wearying constant
contact on my part, and after the 3 months the bonus was just slipped
into my account one day with no announcement.
One of the problems was that none of the Welcome emails said “Congrats
on having a Plat…including a big sign-up bonus”, and I’d only signed
up on the last day of the offer!
To be fair, it did all come out in the wash.
