Along with the email explaining the new option of receiving Avios in lieu of the upgrade voucher, there is also the following note around a new benefit of four free lounge passes each year. Although I have priority passes with my Amex Platinum, May still come in handy if travelling in a larger group…
If you have Barclays Avios Rewards and a Barclaycard Avios Plus card, from 7 December you’ll also receive four complimentary airport lounge passes each year. Each pass gives access to an eligible airport lounge for one person, or can be exchanged for other benefits like a meal voucher or spa treatment at selected locations. These passes can be used by you and any guests that are travelling with you.
The four complimentary passes will be available for you to use within the DragonPass Premier+ app or at barclays.dragonpasspremierplus.com shortly after 7 December, and will be added annually on, or shortly after, the anniversary that you became a dual reward customer. Any airport lounge passes that aren’t used to make a booking by your anniversary date will expire and won’t be carried ov
Wow – they’re really eating Amex’s lunch. So good to see competition in this space!
Does anyone know if those DragonPasses will work instantly or will I need to wait for something to come through the post (like a priority plus card)? I have flights on the 10th December, so this would be nice before our 14 hour flight (and assuming the lounges aren’t full).

If you’re asking about the free passes the email says they will be available “shortly after 7 December” so it depends what shortly is for them.
For the card itself they will send the details by email on the 7th of December. From there it takes a few minutes to register and you can use it immediately. They do not send a physical card unless you request one. Will these be usuable at the priority pass restaurants that amex requires to be excluded from their priority pass?
Thanks @Dudulle and @kaconym. Yes, I meant how quickly would the free passes be available. I upgraded to the plus card and opened the premier account with Avios rewards about 2-3 weeks ago. So basically I need to wait for the email from 7th December, then as soon as I’ve registered on the DragonPass app, it will be available to use.
One thing to be very aware of:
Barclays’ DragonPass Premier+ has a more limited acceptance than the regular DragonPass! This is the same subscription you get with the more expensive Travel Pack on your Barclays account, and my SIL signed up to it before our Summer Holidays as we were to families travelling together, and mine already had lounge access (PP via Amex plus LoungeKey via HSBC).However, at the Lounge in Doha they had a sign and then explained that DP Premier+ (by Barclays they added) is not accepted there whilst the regular DragonPass was.
To get the free lounge passes you need both the premier account (with avios rewards activated) and the plus card. If you have the plus card you should have already received and email with the activation for DragonPass Premier+ account which allows you to pay for discounted access to lounges. Your new account for the premier account will be automatically combined into your existing account from the credit card (if you have one already) and then the free passes will be issued to that account. So you won’t need to wait for anything in the post.
So if you only have the cc you should have a DragonPass Premier+ account already, if you only have the premier account and avios rewards you’ll get a DragonPass Premier+ account on 7th December. If you have all of the CC, premier account and avios rewards you’ll get free passes on or soon after 7th December in your account, which you can access and use from the app.
About a week later, I did receive an email to say that I would get access from 24th November:
From the 24 November your Barclaycard Avios Plus credit card will include Airport Lounge membership, which will give you discounted access to more than 1,000 airport lounges worldwide. We’ve updated your Barclaycard Avios rewards rules to reflect your access to this membership – please click below for details.
As you requested to switch to a Barclaycard Avios Plus card between 1 October and 26 October, these updated reward rules will come into effect for you on 24 November, rather than the date shown on the website.
However, that date has come and gone and I still haven’t received my membership number. Anyone else who switched to Avios Plus between 1st – 26th October and got theirs?

That’s a total surprise. I hadn’t noticed any lounges where Barclays DP wasn’t accepted but PP was until now. Was the Doha lounge showing in the Barclays app? Mine only shows a “sleep’n fly Lounge” and that’s it. Are there others available to regular Dragonpass cardholders? This might suggest the need for a standard DP account (the free one available through Regus for example) as a backup.
Knowing Barclays, the Barclaycard Avios+ Lounge access with Dragonpass might at some point appear in a hidden corner of the app. Otherwise, perhaps we’ll get an email around the 7th December.
I remember the process for getting the Dragonpass card with Barclays Travelpack had been quite convoluted and I had to call up to ask about how to register. It is managed through Lifestyle Services Group. The big bonus at that point was that as our Premier account was joint, and the Travelpack was applied to that account both my wife and I got insurance cover and lounge cards for one fee, though we had to share the 6 free passes.
Let’s see what happens. I’m expecting to be able to add 4 more passes to my existing 6. I just don’t think it’ll be easy to set up[sigh].
I have received an email a couple hours ago about the new benefits being available. Logged onto the website (already had the account from the credit card) and the 4 passes have already been credited.
I received the email as a dual avois rewards holder and it says my 4 lounge passes will become available on the anniversary of me becoming a dual rewards customer.
Did anyone else receive this?

Yes! Came here to see if that means we need to wait 12 months for the first ones, or we get four now and another four in twelve months.
Having registered with the app and doing a dummy booking at Schipol, I have the option to “Use Pass”, so I assume they are there somewhere.
Edit – found them. On the app there is an image of a credit card at the bottom. Click that and it tells you how many passes you have remaining.
In the email today it states:
“ If you’d prefer, you can exchange your complimentary lounge passes for vouchers that can be redeemed at over 500 Airport Restaurants and Cafes”
Given I have priority pass with my Amex platinum and only generally travel business class in the main, this could be a useful benefit. Only problem is I cannot find any information in the app or online which describes how this works. Any ideas?
Actually, having looked in the app again if you search under dining offers, you will sometimes see a £15 or $20 credit available for some restaurants by “trading in” one lounge pass. There’s a Leon restaurant in LHR T2 for example and loads in SFO. Probably not a bad benefit if you can swap 4 passes for £60 worth of spend – and if you are filling up in lounges anyway you could always use it to buy things that you can take away – eg bottled water, drinks etc.
The App also shows a couple of “nicer” lounges such as the Lufthansa and the Maple Leaf lounges in Frankfurt. Has anyone tried the airline lounges before using DragonPass’ free passes? Would be an upgrade to my Plat PP if this actually works.
Got the email, and registered but no free passes for me. I wonder is it because I have to wait for my current barclaycard rewards statement cycle to finish and then for my planned upgrade to avios plus take place for vouchers to be received?

I think Plat itself will get you into some of the Lufthansa lounges (I think you also have to be flying Lufthansa), but not Maple Leaf. Won’t have the opportunity to try to access Maple Leaf until end of March when I have a layover in Frankfurt, but will do!
Tried to use the Dragon Pass twice on my recent flight back from Melbourne via Doha and couldn’t use it at either airport. The Premium Plaza lounge at LHR terminal 4 has been good but otherwise it’s been quite disappointing.
Well I received an email saying I no longer qualified for the DragonPass due to no longer having both products. This a week before opening my premier account. Not sure I have the energy to pursue the silly beggars
Got my free lounge passes this morning. My Avios card was upgraded (to plus) a few days ago just after my statement date.
Slightly OT but close enough – has anyone had any luck with getting into. Lufthansa Lounge with Dragonpass. They used to appear in the app, but when I log in they have disappeared, has there been a change in offering?
Thanks!

Wow this is a bit of an oddity. Yes the Al Maha Transit lounge disappears from the DP Prem+ under Doha but have a regular dragonpass via the Regus route and that lounge is in there. Must be very few that accept regular DP but not DP Prem+.
Edit: Just noticed the Club Aspire LHR T3 is another in regular DP but not DP Prem+

Its more like a DP Prem- (minus)

Has anyone used this before? Exchanging lounge passes for Airport Restaurants, any sweet spots?
