Inviting any creative minds – I have a £400 BA voucher to burn by Saturday and looking at a solo jaunt some point in the next 3 months before mid September.
I have almost no preference on where to go (hot, cold, beach, city, and everything in between) so inviting the collective mind to see if anyone has any tips on maximising bang for buck. I don’t mind either a BA hol or just flights and finding myself a hotel on points. Also no preference of eco or business as I have status for lounge. Don’t mind spending a bit extra on top of the voucher for some serious wow factor and no limitations whatsoever on dates to fly pre mid sept.
Think that covers everything but if any other details help provide inspiration let me know!
Where do you want to go to and what are your interests?
Only you can answer that along with how much extra cash you’re prepared to spend on flights but also hotels and food and transport etc.
If you have no clue then we have even less of one than you!
I’d go somewhere I’d not normally bother. For me, that’s
— Saudi
— Georgia
— Accra
— Kuala Lumpur
I’d not try US as I’m not interested in that much any more.
I’d keep it simple and stick with a European city break. 2/3 nights in early September. Is there anywhere you haven’t been? Amsterdam, Berlin, Prague, Milan, Madrid, Copenhagen, Nice, Zurich are all great places to visit. With £400 you could fly business class return and use points for hotels. If it’s a very short flight and you have status (lounge, etc) maybe consider economy and include part of the hotel costs within your voucher.
Recently went to Bilbao which was above expectation. Great food, enjoyed the Guggenheim, friendly locals, easy to get around. I think closest BA get is San Sebastián which is pretty close.
If you want long haul. Dubai or Antigua should both be accessible for £500 return in economy, so you’ll need to top up your voucher and find accommodation on top. You could get to New Orleans for £600 ish, that would be a nice trip.
