Forums Hotel loyalty schemes Marriott Bonvoy 45% Buy Points Bonus + Point Saver at The Westin Phuket

    Hi guys,

I need some advice as my calculations are not making sense here.

I am booking 5 nights at The Westin Siray Bay Resort & Spa, Phuket. There is currently a 45% bonus on buying points plus there is a point saver deal on the hotel which works out to be 65k points for the 5 night stay instead of 80k+. However when compared to the member rate with breakfast option, it is more expensive

    – Buying 65k points (including bonus) costs 462 GBP then purchasing breakfast on top is 128 GBP (2 people for the stay) = 425 GBP
    – Booking member rate including breakfast costs 393 GBP (no points used)

    Two Questions
    1. With the 45% bonus + point saver, how is it possible the member rate is a cheaper deal?
    2. When you book a hotel using point saver redemption, what is the cost-efficient way to add breakfast? Maybe I am doing it wrong

Not unusual, especially if you want breakfast. Don’t forget you’ll also be earning points back if you pay cash

Breakfast may be cheaper if you ask the hotel directly

Okay good to know. In that case I will book the member rate and collect the points for another trip.
