Hi all, long time reader but first time poster. I have a query about the qualifying flights requirement for getting to silver status in BAEC. I’m quite keen to get there this year given it’s the last time I realistically will (!) – I will have enough tier points once my most recent flights are credited but I am still two qualifying flights short.
For an upcoming trip to Malaysia I have the option to do a BA flight to DOH and then a BA codeshare flight number on QR on to KUL. I know that individually both of these flights would count as a qualifying flight (BA metal and BA codeshare respectively). But if sold together on one ticket as a through connection will they still count as two qualifying flights or will they only be scored as one? Does anyone know?
Thanks in advance!
Welcome! Congrats on your first post. Hope you comment more.
As for your query they don’t need to be on one booking. Any 4 sectors count as long as they are either BA operated or BA marketed. So as long as you definitely get BA flight numbers on the ticket and it shows on the BP they should count.
That said I am not sure it is possible to book a MH flight between DOH and KUL as a BA code share on its own so I would definitely book it as a connecting flight on one booking. Not sure if there are still issues with specific class fares on MH metal posting either (think it was P Class that had am issue or maybe that was Cathay Pacific as that also had a similar problem).
Keep the physical boarding passes in case the TP don’t post automatically to your BA(E)C account.
I think the question was not ‘Do they need to be on the same ticket to count’ but ‘Will they both count if it is a single ticket’. To which the answer is still Yes, it’s four flight segments with BA flight numbers credited to your BA account, regardless of the ticketing arrangements.

It’s not.

Thank you all! And yes Andrew that was the question I was trying to ask (well done for discerning it amidst my ramblings!) Very helpful.
