Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club AA availability on BA site

  • 6 posts

I can never seem to find any AA availability for intra-US flights on BA.com, even when AA.com shows wide open availability eg searching for SFO-DEN on 27 May. I tried this – https://frequentmiler.com/how-to-find-aa-award-space-on-ba-com/ – but it doesn’t work for me.

Virgin has no issues with Delta flights. It’s so frustrating.

    Any ideas?

It needs to be a saver award on aa.com and also a non-stop.

AA only offer 50K awards via PHX or LAX on tht day for that route. You need to be looking at awards priced at around 9.5k for it to be available for Avios on ba.com

I find they come and go quite quickly – I think Americans are far more prone to making speculative bookings and cancelling than we are (maybe because they only lose $6 tax!)

I was tracking some domestic flights to Key West recently and IIRC correctly they were being released in line with cash tickets on a daily basis, though I can’t actually remember if it was the same day or a set number of days afterwards. I’ve also booked much nearer the time and found seats coming back into the inventory on a regular basis.

Further to DaveFL’s comments re AA non-stops and Saver awards – I don’t think SFO to DEN is a non-stop route for American on any date. Is May 27 just an example date? If not, I think it is the Friday before Memorial Day, which is one of the busiest travel weekends of the year in the US, so it isn’t surprising if saver awards aren’t available.

You’re correct – AA don’t fly direct from SFO to DEN so it’s necessary to connect in LA or, more commonly, PHX. Looking at Expert Flyer I can’t see any date from today until the end of May (I didn’t look beyond then) when there’s SAAver availability on both legs and little or none even on SFO-PHX or PHX-DEN as stand alone awards.
