Hello!
I flew to Miami on Thursday 14 April
From Edinburgh via LHR to catch a 5 night cruise on the Friday.
My husband and I were sharing a hold bag which unfortunately didn’t make the flight to mia and was sent to Chicago instead.
We did the whole registration thing at the airport, and were told our bags would be delivered to the ship in port today. That’s now looking unlikely.
AA told us to keep receipts for essential
Items and we’d be reimbursed. Getting essentials at the port was expensive and were now approaching formal night etc with no suitable clothes – perhaps none for our entire trip.
Does anyone have experience of how much AA will pay per day in expenses? They wouldn’t put a figure on it but even basics on the ship are expensive – I tried to get some shirts yesterday for an active excursion but the cheapest ones were $130 (and horrible!) so we ended up cancelling the excursion.
I don’t want to end up massively out of pocket but feel my trip is now being massively disrupted.
Also, for clarity, I do appriciate some of this is my
Responsibility as I should have packed my hand luggage better!
I wouldn’t worry too much. If the only shirts available cost $130 then buy them anyway. It is AA’s fault they lost your luggage. If you are in a port and have time go ashore, find clothes shops and just buy a few items.
I think the liability for lost luggage is around £1300 so spending $600 on essentials for a cruise is not going to be questioned too much.
Try to enjoy your holiday.
