My wife has had an active year with flights to Miaimi and Alaska. All flights with American and Alaskan with work. She managed to nab 20 tier points flying from Southampton (home) to Glasgow on Logain Air with a BA number. However she is on 560 points requiring 2 more flights. I had hoped she would jump from Bronze to Silver but she requires two further eligible flights.
Her year ends July 2023. We have an Club World Avios flights to Miaimi 3 weeks and Santiago in February. Also more avios bookings to Rome in June. No real options for further tier runs and she would no do a fly-in-fly-out tier run. Had hoped to use the Silver seat booking opportunities for these flight. Last time we flew Club World we ended up in separate rows!
Presuming she has missed out on the reduced requirements ending Dec 31st. She will need 40 points and ?x2 eligible flights. Will they need to be on a plane in BA colours rather than Logan Air? Could fit a trip in end April. Am I correct?
I believe you are correct. Apart from where you say “no real options for further tier runs”. There’s always options for further tier runs!
If I were you I’d be tempted to try and find a cheap weekend away before the end of the year which would give your wife silver for your February flights and ensure you can enjoy each other’s company on your long haul flights. But I understand it might not work for you particularly as you’d likely need to get to Heathrow.
In terms of your “eligible flights” wording I have pasted BA’s wording below. So Loganair would be eligible if you get it issued on a BA flight number. But I believe it tends to be more expensive to do this and you might not get the 40 points your wife needs. So if you’re going in April it would be simplest to book E.g. club Europe out and economy back and get 45 points.
But I’d imagine your wife would love a weekend in Paris in the run up to Christmas. Two eligible flights for around £100, a bit of romance and silver status. I’d offer to take her for you but Mrs Froggee tends to get annoyed about that sort of thing so I’m afraid it’s up to you.

Eligible flights
Eligible flights are defined as those flights marketed or operated by British Airways and those flights marketed and operated by Iberia.
‘Marketed’ means the flight will have a BA flight number (in your itinerary or on your ticket).
‘Operated’ means the aircraft that you travel on is a British Airways aircraft (including franchises and BACityflyer).
‘Marketed and operated by Iberia’ means the flight will have an IB flight number and the aircraft you travel on is an Iberia aircraft (including franchises).
Reward bookings and agency or industry discounted bookings are not eligible.
I think your wife will get promoted to silver if she does a return flight in economy either marketed or operated by BA before 31 Dec 2022. I hesitate to recommend flying IB since they are notorious for not posting automatically to BAEC and often claiming after the event is problematic however technically a cheap return flight operated by and flown by IB would also work.
The reason she has 560TP but is only Bronze is because she only has two qualifying flights so far. If she gets another two qualifying flights before 31 Dec 2022 she will get upgraded to Silver even if she doesn’t have 600TP so anything earning 5TP each way would work. You could also reduce the cash price by paying Avios to reduce the cost, I am not normally one for doing TP runs but I think with your 3 Avios bookings I would go for it as it would enable her to preselect seats for free for any upcoming flights.
She has enough TPs for silver (which is currently 450 before Dec 31) although the app will still say 600. All she needs is the 2 flights. If she leaves it until after the new year, she will need the 2 flights AND 40 more TPs – which could obviously be done together.
Simplest and quickest way is probably a quick day trip to somewhere like Newcastle or Jersey. eg: https://www.google.com/travel/flights/s/KgLGFs9VUQYv7iRn6
Great advice everyone. Soon after returning from MIami I am off skiing for a week and she has dog sitting duties. Then it is Xmas. Likely I could have twisted her arm to see her family in Scotland but we are seeing them in the Lake District at New Year. I should have planned this further in advance. As for the 40 points and x2 flights I am sking mid-January then off for a month to South America in February. First world problems!
