Adding 241 Amex after outbound is booked?

Hi,
I’m expecting a 241 Amex voucher in a few days. But my outbound flights are coming on sale before I’ll get the voucher.

Does anyone know if it’s possible to book an outbound 355 days in advance. Without a 241. And add it at the time of phoning up to book the return leg?

Thank you. I couldn’t find other threads about this scenario. Only ones about adding return legs when outbound already booked with 241.
