Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Adding a stopover in Singapore SYD-SIN-LHR

  • 5 posts

    I had an Avios return LHR-SYD (via SIN) trip booked for 2 people using a companion voucher.

    A couple of weeks ago I spotted 2 reward seats available (SIN-LHR) a week further on from my original booked date.
    Thinking a week in SIN would be nice to break the return I asked BA to change the SIN-LHR flights to add this as a week stopover – no dice.
    BA made me cancel my original whole return trip (SYD-SIN-LHR) and book 2 separate reward flights costing an extra 15,000 Avios per person SYD-SIN then (SIN-LHR a week later.
    Is this right, i.e. no stopovers allowed on return?

    LHR-SYD is considered a direct flight, so it is not priced as the sum of LHR-SIN + SIN-SYD

    Effectively you are changing to a different route.

    I don’t think it’s possible to book LHR-SIN + SIN-SYD on the same plane, but if you could, it would cost the same avios and fees as having a week in between

    BA didn’t make you do anything, You chose o make changes and so a different set of rules and costs applies.

    Oh bore off you pedantic so and so, I wanted a stop-over but BA would not allow one so the only way to do this was to cancel the full return leg and rebook 2 separate flights.

    @AleTrail

    I’ve just done a test booking and the BA website is allowing LHR-SIN-SYD and SYD-SIN-LHR – but this was for December 24.

    Maybe it’s just an availability issue for the dates you’re after.

    My test dates:

    Outbound 1/12
    Inbound 13/12
