I rang the US call center at 1am BST I’m in UK. they refused to help me in booking the return for a flight booked with companion voucher and avios. Called back to try different agent same response. I need to call uk exec club opens 7.30am. So in Europe I’m.not allowed the reward flights? They were all gone by 1.18am. What am I doing wrong? Anyone done this recently?
Would it be possible to book online at 1am your return flight and then call the customer service desk and ask them to combine the two bookings and refund the avios?
A couple of people have mentioned on the dedicated 241 threads that they were told of an imminent plan for CS agents to stop agreeing to book return legs – probably to free up call centres for other things.
I agree the best way is to book your return leg online and request the 50% avios refund, although this is only possible if you have enough avios to do that. You’ll be left with 2 separate PNRs but that doesn’t really cause any issues.
