Forums Frequent flyer programs The British Airways Club Adding personal return to one way corporate flight?

  • 37 posts

    Hi All!

My employer will book a one way business class flight for me from LHR to HKG (costs around 4k).

It just so happens that I am planning a personal trip in the other direction a couple months later (so HKG – LHR and then again LHR – HKG).

Once I have my one way corporate ticket booked, is there any chance I could amend the booking with BA directly to add a return leg (which means I could get a return business class flight for around 1k personal expense, rather than the usual 4k)?

    Thanks,
    M

In principle any booking can be changed, and a return added to a one-way, subject to applicable change fees. However you would have to do it through the same channel as the original booking, e.g. if your employer uses a corporate travel agent any changes would also have to go through them.

It may be more about your employer policy than BA.

One likely problem is the 4k one way will likely be flexible and a 5k return will have tighter restrictions. If the outbound needs changing for a business reason or the trip is cancelled then you could end up shouldering the change fees / chunky fare difference etc. For this reason an employer likely will not want to create this kind of potential issue especially where there is a corporate TA involved
