Forums Frequent flyer programs Virgin Flying Club Advice on partial re-routing (one pax, existing pax remaining on previous route)

I have an existing return booking LHR-JFK with my partner, booked on points. Outbound is economy return is premium, with a voucher used to cover an upgrade from economy to premium on the inbound for both of us. I may now be required for work to go straight to another US destination and return directly from there at a later date, with my partner remaining on the booked return leg from JFK-LHR (she has no interest traveling on a business trip with me, and fair enough).

I’m VS Gold. VS agent very helpful, but suggested it may come down to a cancellation (with fees) and rebooking outbound as two one-ways and then my partner’s return as a separate booking. While they could sometimes split the bookings of me and my partner into two separate journeys, they apparently can’t do this when a voucher has been used. My company will of course pay for my other US flights. Seems a shame Virgin can’t just cancel my own return leg on the original booking leaving my partner’s in place.

Anyone encountered similar and found a way to handle it?

    Thanks!
