Hi All
Flying tomorrow BA428 to Amsterdam and back next day – the flight is one of the first out at 6 40am (if it goes!) Assuming it does any advice on time I should allow at T5 at this very early time ?!
Will be with hand baggage only (and Covid jab NHS certs & Dutch ministry form completed) – Believe I cannot pre print board pass (travelling BA Silver) – Some advice is get in the security queue at 4am …is that really needed ? Thank you ! ps any advice on process/ queues likely at Amsterdam appreciated (pm flight back next day)
You should be able to upload your vaccination status to BA via MMB or the “get ready for your flight email – and that will allow you – once approved – to do OlCI
The Dutch don’t have a health form these days. I certainly didn’t do one flying LCY – AMS on Monday.
As for T5 I would get there much before 5 myself.
I wrote on the chat thread on Tuesday about my experience leaving AMS on Tuesday morning so have a read of that post.
I don’t think security opens until 0445 ish, I’ve always done ok arriving at 0505 even without fast track
@sxparkin – how is/was AMS? Reading it’s chaos there https://www.reuters.com/business/aerospace-defense/klm-temporarily-suspends-ticket-sales-amsterdam-flights-2022-05-26/
To update – a few quick things – I got to T5 at 4 45am – already people lined up and the Terminal was open – BA website says they open at 5am ! The lines moved very quickly – I was in Fast Track but the other lines looked fine – On the return yesterday from Amsterdam note the Lounge with BA is still closed – the lounge next door was so busy there were no seats etc so I opted to work and have a coffee in Starbucks which has nice seats overlooking the runway – on landing from a 45 min flight we had to wait 34 mins for an Air Bridge driver to arrive as there were none to meet us – due to staff shortages… The Captain did not look best pleased when we disembarked – I would where possible travel with carry on as it made a big difference – the lines at Amsterdam were longer at security but they moved very fast – about 25/30mins in the line – it was acceptable – I was expecting far worse ! BA tend to go from Gate 16 – go down to cafes and restuarants nearer the gate – lots of space and wifi/ drinks not expensive if you prefer not to be crammed in lounge or dont have access ! Thanks for other feedbacks…ps we are going to USA with BA and are taking hand baggage only and buying suitcase when we get there (they need replacing anyway !) There is a twilight service to check in night before – not widely advertised by BA yet – if you can afford the time and cost eg if you have a large family etc its a good service – BUT you all have to attend the airport with Passports etc to CHECKIN for security reasons So you cannot take the bags and checkin a Family – it is not allowed
