Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Aer Lingus Avios redemptions on ba.com – is this new?

Maybe I haven’t been paying sufficient attention but I just noticed that I can now redeem avios on 1 way or return direct Aer Lingus flights to/from the UK and USA on ba.com which I’m pretty sure hasn’t been possible before. Not particularly great value compared to RFS on ba or even Aer Lingus cash fares but it seems a useful addition and avoids the horrors of having to call BA to redeem.

It has been possible for some years, but I think you get charged higher “taxes” on ba.com so it’s better to call or go via Aer Club. Also I think ba.com gets less availability but I might be wrong.

Just booked DUB-PHL 1 way for 2 people in Business for 100k avios plus £298. We get pre-clearance of course and, as its an afternoon flight, no need to spend money on an overnight stay in Dublin. Very happy with it especially as I now have an afternoon free from waiting for BA to pick up the phone.

No, this is new. You had to call. Thanks for the tip.

No problem Rob. I discovered it completely by chance but see it is a major plus not having to call.

I’ve definitely seen Aer Lingus come up as an option previously, never booked though as you can’t use a 241!
