Forums Other London life Afternoon Tea Recommendations

  • 141 posts

My mum is visiting next month, and I’m thinking of treating her to afternoon tea in central London. Any recommendations would be much appreciated. She enjoys a traditional experience and doesn’t drink. I’m considering places like The Savoy or Claridge’s — though I imagine they’ll need to be booked well in advance, especially for weekends.
For context, she’s always loves the afternoon tea at Adare Manor, so something along those lines would be ideal.

I went recently for Afternoon Tea at The Drawing Room at at The OWO, which is the relatively new Raffles hotel on Whitehall. One of the best London afternoon tea experiences I have had. The room is intimate, i.e. not too big, service was great, food and drinks were delicious and not “too much” as can be the case. I too was just in awe of the stunning conversion that was completed last year, and in a very historical/traditional setting. Would highly recommend.

I liked the Corinthia afternoon tea the room is beautiful and the food and service outstanding. However the old war office was also a fantastic experience, and we were given a tour round as well

Savoy is a tourist trap, Claridges a bit so too though more elegant.

I’d pick The Drawing Room at Browns or the Rose Lounge at Sofitel St James. Both are excellent quality and quite intimate. The Rose Lounge is my favourite of the two as it’s smaller.
