Forums Other Destination advice Airport transfer from Abu Dhabi to Waldorf Ras Al Khaimah

  • 16 posts

Hi there, does anyone have any recommendations for good quality/realiable services to book airport transfers in advance from Abu Dhabi airport to Waldorf Astoria in Ras Al Khaimah for a family of four.

I appreciate there are airport taxis available but with kids I’m keen for something pre-booked.

I’m ruling out Blacklane as it’s crazily expensive (£275+) but wonder if anyone has experience of others they have used for the same journey.

    Thanks in advance

    Andrew

When I went to the WA in Ras I got them to book me a car to pick me up. Yes it might be more expensive but you can charge it to your room and hotel will know what time you are arriving so if early there’s a better chance of your room being ready before official check in time. They will meet you at arrivals help with luggage etc worth the extra cost to me.

Thanks a lot for getting back to me so quickly. Normally I’d agree but the hotel is even more expensive at over £300 one way so definitely hoping for a cheaper option

I’d check out Viator. A number of credit cards and cashback sites often have Viator offers which can make it more affordable.

Good thought, I’ll have a look there

We’ve used SIXT airport taxis from Dubai. Was good value and they offered some enourmous 4×4 with kids seats. Couldn’t fault on airport to hotel. Bit late on the reverse journey picking us up but otherwise would use again.

I’d assume they’d cover Ras as well. Edit – I can’t read you said Abu Dhabi not Dubai. Not sure if Sixt operate there.

That’s definitely the challenge Alex. Quite a few of the normal places I’d look don’t list options for Abu Dhabi to Ras AK (including Sixt, Welcome Pickups and Sun Transfer).

Don’t look for Dubai air transfer, instead try RAK transfers.

Thanks – I’ve not been looking for Dubai transfers though?

Any reason why you can’t hire a car and drive yourself? It sounds like you would make a substantial saving.

Actually hadn’t really thought about one way car hire, also good idea, thank you!

While you can avoid the madness inside Dubai on this route, I’d still recommend avoiding driving on your own in the Middle East.
You might be on a 8 lane road and yet find someone cutting dangerously ahead of you.

I’ve just come back from Jeddah and this happened about every 5 mins 🙂 The UAE is saner, but it is a good point. You just have to remain calm and leave big gaps, and treat everyone as a risk. And once you get into the mindset, it’s quite fun. If you are close to missing your exit, nobody cares if you do the same!

For this trip though even renting the car for two weeks and leaving it in the hotel untouched would probably be much cheaper then the transfers.

Potentially easier way of experiencing roller coasters by driving randomly across 8 lanes than also visiting WB World………

I used Sixt Ride from the IC RAK to DXB as I needed a larger sized taxi with car seat. It was not a good experience. The evening before the driver was allocated and the car was shown on the app as a Merc V-Class. However, come pickup time the Merc was still tracking as being in Dubai and what turned up was an old, dirty, smelly Honda with an ancient (likely unsafe) carseat.

I needed to get to the airport so I had no option but to take it as at 4am there wasn’t any other option. The driving was atrocious and I had to tell the driver to slow down a number of times. Driving at 100kmph when there’s zero-visibility fog was just madness!! He was also on his phone while driving at that speed!

I complained and got a full refund. The CEO responded to me personally so I will give them another try as they have taken action and apparently terminated the relationship with that transport provider.

Many hotels are doing the same. Outsourcing the work and then find out that the service is just crap.

I’ll still go with the hotel cab and insist that the hotel send their own cab and driver. If they turn out to be different, do the same as BP does. Similar incident in India recently where the supposedly hotel driver refused to reach the airport arrivals and insisted we drag the luggage to the car park. Had to escalate the complaint until the charges were fully refunded.
