Hi HFP Members I would like your advice about alternative card options. I have hit the 10K spend on my IHG Premium Plus Card. I do not want to spend any more on the card. I am looking at Alternatives to the card I want a free card, with no fess. I do not meet the requirement for the HSBC cards. I have an AMEX free membership rewards card and the free BA blue card. I do not go many places that do not accept amex but there is always one that wont accept amex now.
I am thinking to use my chase current current account card for the 1 percent cash back, with round ups switched on. I do not want to use apply for the Barclays BA Avios or Virgin cards as it locks in the points and I do not see myself flying in the next year. Also lock my points into a new air line scheme with Virgin . I may find it easer to use the Euro star then connect to the EU train network. Less time being spent in airports on short EU flights. I am thinking about the Tesco card or Sainsburys card but I use my AMEX free membership rewards card there.
Can any one recommend another rewards credit card. I have canceled my Amazon new day card. As the replacement new card is a waste of time. My MBNA Horizon card is better then the new day replacement card. Plus the MBNA Horizon card has no EU fess and 0.5 cash back, also my chase card has the same with 1 percent cash back and rounds ups.
Any ideas would be great.
Maybe look at the Barclaycard Avios cards again. Avios is an increasingly useful currency – you can convert them to Nectar points which can be spent at Sainsbury’s, Argos, eBay, Easyjet, for hotels and so on.
You could apply for the free Virgin Atlantic credit card because upon reaching 10,000 points you can transfer the points to Hilton Honors points at a conversion rate of 1:2 or IHG One points at a conversion rate of 1:1.
Hi Urbanite & Harrier25 thanks for the comments. I shall take a look at one of options you said above. I have just closed the Amazon card two days ago. I will wait for the credit report to update, then see my new score in November. I am also thinking just to use the card to get more IHG point as for a possible trip next winter to a hot country the location has a few IHG group hotels. Also I might apply for the gold amex just for the year to see what other offers I get then cancel the card after the first year to see if its worth hanging on to the card.
