Hello
I’m looking to stay at the IHG Athens in May. I was caught out when I used my voucher last time so need to be sure what I will actually pay at check out this time. Here is the breakdown
nights stay
Night 1. 664.00 EUR
Night 2. 589.00 EUR
Additional Charges
Climate Resilience Tax Service Charge For Spa30.00 EUR
Taxes
Sleeping Room Tax. 170.03 EUR
Total Price
1,453.03 EUR
Thanks in anticipation.
You will pay total price minus second night although it might be less due to tax. Not sure how Greek government calculates tourist tax so someone more knowledgeable might answer it.
What are your dates? Those rates seem quite high to me. Is it a standard room or something more premium?
This is a property I visit regularly and it is often decent value on points redemptions (I’ve even seen it for around 20K/nt in the low season). In May it looks to be around 50k points/nt and upwards (standard room redemption).
With the current 100% Points Buy bonus you can get 100K points for just $500.
Even with Night 2 free on the AMB certificate you might be getting a better deal on points.
Paid 19,950 in November. As Diamond with lounge access it was an incredible deal…. And Athens in November was great…
You won’t get it for 20k points in May!!

Beginning of May. King Room with Balcony. I will take a look at points options
I think there’s a public holiday at the beginning of May in Greece so that might be pushing up prices.
So do you pay tax on the “free night” of the booking? Has this been answered? I would also like to know, thanks.

It depends on the local laws in place!
A 10% tax on zero spent is zero tax. But you MAL still have to pay any fixed amounts for tourist and occupancy fees which are based on bodies in rooms and not cost of the room.
Contact the specific hotel for confirmation.
