We are flying on AA, MIA-GCM this afternoon, booked with around 10k avios each plus $6 taxes (fortunate to be avoiding the LHR chaos).
As well as being able to use Priority check-in and security, plus a theoretical crazy 420 lbs of checked baggage between us, my BA gold (thanks, BAH, desolée, @JDB), gets us in to the AA Flagship lounge which I was pretty excited about.
We were greater with a glass oof Piper Hiedsieck It is definitely a haven of tranquility compared to Galleries at T5 last year. A nice spread of cold and cooked items (e.g. jerk chicken thighs, roasted winter root veg, assorted cheeses and some very pretty desserts), and all the various drinks you could shake a stick at.
A man a couple of tables away was having a loud Zoom meeting in Spanglish when we came in, but he’s gone now 😂.
I’ve just finished my first Buck’s Fizz (added my own OJ to the bubbly) and OH is savouring a nice Californian Cabernet.
Flight is now delayed however this is not the worst place to be stranded – OH said he saw a sea of people sitting in the floor at the BA check in area earlier 😬
Thanks! There’s a very nice selection of New World red & white wines, plus self-pour champagne.
You get a laminated “invite” when you arrive at the entrance to grant you access to the appropriate lounge. BP was accepted with no fuss or suspicion!
Fun fact: the boards here show departures in alphabetical order, which I suppose makes sense!
I think I need some more cheese.

That’s to allow the staff upstairs to easily differentiate between Flagship lounge passengers and the riff raff heading for the Admirals Club who use the same lifts but don’t get the invite.
If your flight is from one of the lower D gate numbers bear in mind it’s an awful long way down to the far end of the terminal.
