Forums Payment cards American Express Amex account expiry

  • 19 posts

    Hi all,

My partner is looking to try and find her anniversary date of cancellation from her last amex account as stupidly neither one of us noted it down at time of last cancellation. She is unable to log in to the old account in app and online, and has just called amex too.

The only trace that they have of her is being a supplementary account holder on my live BAPP. Does anyone have experience in this type of thing and do you know if the amex data expires after a min period of 2 years (for example)? She’s looked back through old bank statements and get the impression she’s just ticked over 2 years by approx a week, but for obvious reasons I want to be sure so as not to invalidate chances of getting the next SUB.

Also may as well ask here instead of creating another thread, is there any historical trend that may suggest an increased SUB coming up on the gold card any time soon?

    thanks in advance,
    Jamie

Obtain Amex statements for the last two years and where it stops (and when the card stopped being used) may indicate when she cancelled.

Amex should still have this data as I believe it is held for six years.

Give it a few weeks or even a few months from the last date of use, just to be sure – your closure date isn’t necessarily the same as Amex’s, as they may take time to process.

No idea when there will be an increased Gold sub.

Whatever date Amex tells you as the account close date, add a couple of months to be sure. People rely on the dates Amex gives and then realise the date was wrong and they won’t be eligible for signup bonus.

The closure date on reports like credit karma and clearscore are usually pretty accurate.

    Thanks all.
