Amex additional card holder for gold rewards card

Are credit / address checks done when you request someone to have a supp card , a overseas relative is coming to stay for a while and I want them to have a supp card , however as from overseas they don’t have any credit file etc …

Last time I added my mother they wanted further details such as bank statements proof of address etc

It depends. I recently added 2 supp cardholders. One went through no problem, the other required proof of ID and address, so you can try but it’s a risk for someone who isn’t a UK resident.

I added my GF to my account and Amex wanted an ID and bank statement for proof of address. As she had recently moved back with her family and changed address, I thought she’d get denied but it went through nicely. She tried to apply for CCs through MSE’s eligibility checker but it failed, probably because she kept moving while studying at uni.

I think this is what might happen to you as well.
