Hi,
Can someone tell me if you get the same rewards offered on the business cards as you do the personal ones?
Thinking about getting one for the travel insurance alone but wondered what other goodies I can get. I dont qualify for the sign up bonus sadly.
Thanks
For the platinum cards, I’d say the business rewards are currently inferior to the personal offering, although of course that depends on what value you place on them.
Annually, on plat personal you currently get £300 dining offers for both UK and abroad, 2 x £50 spend at Harvey Nics and all the other usual card offers. They charge an annual £575 fee for this.
On the business card you don’t get the dining or Harvey Nics credits but instead have 2 x £75 Dell UK credits. The card offers are usually also inferior (you can get an idea in the https://www.headforpoints.com/forums/topic/amex-offers-latest/page/12/ thread). The annual card charge is slightly higher at £595. The main benefit over the personal card seems to be:
(1) the Times Online free full-digital annual subscription (v. £300+ paid in the UK or £120 international rate)
(2) Insurance – when I subscribed (a few years ago now) I made a note that the business insurance was the only Amex cover that doesn’t require you to have spent on the card to be able to claim. Whether this is still the case I do not know and you should do your own research if that is an important aspect for you.
Both cards give the same hotel and hire car status and lounge access, although I understand that the personal card wins here too in that it gives you access to the Eurostar lounges whereas, rather perversely I think, the business card does not!
Hope this helps. Amex seem to have stopped issuing cards to us Channel Islanders and so as they did this while I was in a 2 year ‘fallow’ period for all personal Amex cards it seems I am now stuck with my business platinum card 🙂
PS I think currently if you don’t hold the personal gold card you could apply and then use the 40,000 points upgrade offer to the platinum personal, if that makes a difference to you – there’s been quite a lot written on here about that offer over the last week…
Quick one.. Dell £75…do you need to spend over £75 or will a purchase of £70 just credit me back £70.
Thanks
The ‘hang on a few days’ news is in … a £200 travel credit each year 🙂

Am i understanding right that if I have business plat I can also have the bonus on personal plat? I have only the Bapp with my business plat.

Yes you can, Business cards don’t affect the eligibility of a SUB for a personal MR card. As long as you haven’t had a personal Member rewards card in 24M you qualify for Personal Plat bonus.
I’ve recently got a Business Plat (No MR card in 13M) and will sign up for Personal Plat before the October offer is done (My 24M will be done by then).

It’s up to £75 in statement credits per six month period so in your scenario you’ll above you’ll get a £70 matching credit and still have another £5 credit that can appear against any future Dell purchase in the period.
