What are the rules around income changes in next 6-12 months of opening an Amex card ? Planning to apply an AMEX card before going on maternity leave. Income will drop but still above the Amex requirement for the card I am applying.
I really wouldn’t worry too much about it as long as you intend to return.
I’d be very surprised if that mattered, because Amex would be opening themselves up to all sorts of discrimination claims if they refused you an account because you’re pregnant.
It potentially matters if you declare that your income is likely to change in the next 6 months.
I’m pretty sure the application processes asks for your annual income – not your predicted annual income. You could always do a dummy booking to confirm. It’s a risk assessment from Amex to determine whether you’re able to pay your debts (as opposed to a product requirement a la Premier Banking) – as long as you’re comfortable with being able to cover your bills I wouldn’t worry about it.
What’s a “dummy booking”? Filling out the soft checker with different incomes may be recorded, possibly with agencies such as N Hunter, and could lead to Amex asking for further verification
As Rob says, dont overthink it. Amex has other sources to check your data. The only people who should be worried are those lying on the application or constant churners.

Partially complete an application with false information just to see what information is requested, and never submit it.
