Forums Payment cards American Express Amex Corporate Card scheme

As FD of a mid-size business (100-ish employees) I get chased from time to time by Amex Corporate to join their corporate card scheme. Always resisted in the past as don’t want to have to issue employees with both an Amex and a second Visa/Mastercard to use for where Amex doesn’t work. But as a personal Amex card holder (Platinum) I can increasingly see the benefits – especially on point accumulation. Having looked at the Corporate scheme the benefits seem much less attractive than the Amex Business cards which as I understand are essentially issued to the individuals and are linked to their personal credit rating rather than a company-wide credit limit. The sign up bonuses are non existent too. Anyone have experience of using the Amex Corporate scheme vs using Business Cards for multiple employees? We would have around 15 cardholders if we did move.

Amex corporate cards are used mainly for the ease of invoicing, accounting, expense reimbursements and controls over the spending etc. Amex can get you detailed statements including the flight and hotel details. They can even bundle in travel booking, insurance etc.
Corporates dont look at them from a rewards points perspective. Not only are they hardly lucrative but also if you do a survey of your employees, there will be very few collecting points or avios. Most use cash back cards or debit cards.
