Amex Gold Lounge Visits

Hi

I understand with the Gold card you receive 4 lounge visits every 12 months if you continue to hold the card.

However does anyone know if the lounge visits received in one year expire if unused within 12 months or can they roll forward to a future year?

I am struggling use my lounge visits within the first year as I have lounge access via oneworld status and most of my flights are with BA.

However I have an easyjet flight coming up where I could use the priority pass lounge visits provided with the Gold card but that flight is a few weeks after the first 12 months of holding the card has passed.

If the year one lounge visits rolled forward to year two I’d continue to hold the card into year two to get them used.

If you’re going to keep it, you’d get four more passes anyway? Hardly worth it for the £195 fee if you only want one lounge visit, which you could buy for cheaper directly.

I don’t believe the passes rollover.

I would be planning to cancel the card fairly soon in year two and getting a pro rata refund of the fee.

I’m going to check with Amex chat agents regarding if they rollover or not but sometimes they aren’t the most informed hence asking here first.

No, they don’t roll over.

You get 4 visits per card year (not calendar year), and they reset at the card anniversary. In theory, you could use the new set of 4 visits on the 2nd day of your next membership year, and then cancel for a pro-rata refund.
