    Today I have received a letter from Amex to let me know they’ve refunded the £650 fee for my business Platinum card. The letter states that Amex failed to make clear that the fee would apply from the date the card account was established rather than the start of the second year (as it does with gold). I can confirm the refund has already hit my card.

    Probably the best deal I’ve ever had! Getting 15 points per pound spent (stacking the generous sign up and referral bonuses), I’ve managed to get around 200,000 avios through spend, as well as all the credits and other benefits that come with the card. Effectively Amex have paid me to take 200k of Avios off their hands! Anyone else had the same?

    It’s likely a remediation scheme. They were recently fined for issues linked to their sales practices in the USA, so perhaps they’re proactively addressing issues across other markets.
