Booked and paid for 2 hotels on Our Business Amex gold card Under The offer for Hilton for 9000 Points after reading the Amex Offer on this website and after reading the confusing Contradictory terms and conditions which say To be eligible You must Book and pay by offer end date .

Both Hotels on the offer Page

    Paid Advance booking rate

Amex are saying that its Checkout spend only with no exceptions and Refuse to Give us the Points .

So How can You Book and pay if its check out spend only have I missed Something ?

It’s not checkout spend. Advanced Purchase bookings are fine and are processed by the hotel.

Why did you even tell Amex you hadn’t stayed? They can’t tell. They see the same charge from the hotel on your statement as they’d see if you paid at checkout.

Lesson learnt . Probably will pass on this type of offer in future unless its guaranted acceptance with online bookings included as standard .

Are this type of offer targeting spend on food/bar etc rather than the room itself ?

Just has to add up to a £200 minimum spend and these hotel offers tend to be cumulative too, especially the Hilton and IHG ones.

95% of my use of this offer has been advance purchase rates and always got the rebate automatically.

Does the card account holder have to stay? Want to book a hotel for my two sisters, I’ll not be present myself.

I don’t think there’s a requirement for the cardholder to stay to get the offer, but where you might come unstuck is if you book it on your account in your name, and then they suss out that it’s not you checking in. If you contact the hotel and tell them you’re booking the room for someone else, it’ll be fine, but you may not get status benefits like points, free breakfast etc.

Nope cardholder doesn’t have to stay, I’ve just used other half’s cards for two night in Cardiff, second name isn’t even the same.
