Discuss today's stories:
I received an email yesterday that threatened cancellation as I hadn’t used my Amex ICC card in the last six months.
The email stated if I didn’t use my card within the next 63 days then Amex would terminate the account, but if I made a purchase on the card, then Amex would withdraw the notice.
I thought it was a fraudster type email, so I contacted Amex, who confirmed it to be a genuine communication.
I have made a purchase on the card to stop closure, but I have never seen this before – six months non-usage seemed a bit of a short timeframe in terms of non usage and threatening account closure.
Has anyone else experienced this, either on the ICC card or another Amex card?
TIA
I lost my rewards credit card last year after 12 months of inactivity, no email though, they issued a statement online with a message on it. Naturally, I didn’t bother reading the statement as I knew I had a zero balance…
Never mind, I got another referral from from my wife to sort the situation out.
Thanks @Sandgrounder and good you were able to get another card
The risk of ICC closure is that there is currently no way to re-apply for the card as Amex is no longer accepting applications, so not keen on the idea of losing it!
