Amex Platinum SUB – now saying ineligible after signing up!

Hi all,
Recently signed up as wanted to take advantage of the 100k SUB on offer.
Amex live chat told me before I signed up that I had no MR enrolled cards in my name in last 24 months.
The only other MR card I had was taken out in 2021 and I cancelled that before the fee was due, so what the agent told me tied up with my own records.
I have been contacting them back and forth to query why the SUB spend tracker wasn’t showing.
They raised a tech ticket and then just kept fobbing me off since – check back in 4-7 working days etc.
Then today, I get this:
‘as I reviewed your account, I see that your card shows ineligible for welcome bonus offer on the Platinum card as our system has detected that you’ve held a MR based Amex card in the past 24 months. I see that a case was submitted to investigate this on 14-Jun-2025 and our dedicated team is still working on this’.
Literally the very next reply goes on to say:
‘a case has already been raised for you to investigate this further as we were not able to locate any MR based cards in the past 24 months under your name. Our dedicated team is investigation this for you currently’.
So two complete contradictory replies. They are all over the place. Complete shambles.
Anyone else had this?
Where do I stand with this – had this card just over a month.
When do you think your last Amex card account was closed?
Live chat are hopeless these days, if you think you have a strong case either call and ask to be put to the Brighton team, or write to head office.
