Does anyone know if the Amex car rental insurance will cover the hire of an electric vehicle in the UK (domestic rental)? I think the value of the car is £50k+.
Secondly, my understanding is that for the cover to apply, it’s not necessary for the car rental to be paid on your Amex Platinum card?

or their property.Not sure, I usually pay with my BA Amex, os at least there’s any Amex in the equation.

On this topic – does anyone know if external accommodation needs to be booked in order for the amex plat car rental insurance to be valid in the UK?
My reading of the clause suggests not, and I have checked with a few friends who think the same (we’re all lawyers so supposedly can read legal drafting reasonably well). Still, if anyone has real-world experience it would be appreciated.

On the phone with the Platinum Insurance team I was told no need for external accom to be booked. Never sure how reliable these reps are though, so would be good to hear anyone’s experiences, particularly with things like Zipcar/car clubs.
Although not needing to use the Amex, when we produced our plat last month
in Florida, it totally ruled out the insurance hard sell that I’d been steeling myself up for!
