    Just a little off topic,
If I’m renting in a country where you legally can not decline 3rd party liablility is this an issue with amex plat?
Will i at least be covered for the rest like excess, theft, cdc etc?

Can someone or @Rob kindly advise ASAP.

    Thank you very much

It is not a problem, you will be covered for your excess.

There is a link to the Ts and Cs on this page: https://www.americanexpress.com/en-gb/insurance/termsandcondition/
Just remember you will need to pay any excess and then claim it back. I have found them to be swift when called upon though.

You seem to understand that whatever is mandatory by the car rental will be covered by the car rental and whatever you can decline you must decline in order for Amex to cover that specific part?

    Correct me if I’m wrong.

    Thank you so much

@shmulymusic1@gmail.com – you are rightly wary of posters giving important information without any supporting evidence. It really is worth reading the terms of the policy yourself to be sure of these things.

The fact the care hire excess section of the Amex Plat doesn’t require you to use an Amex card is actually by omission rather than anything explicit. Under paragraph 3 ‘terms and conditions’ and then ‘eligibility’ it tells you which sections do require use of the card, and the car hire section isn’t one of them. For those elements that do require use of the card in order for cover to be effective, there are more detailed definitions of what that actually means in each of the relevant policy sections.
