My understanding of the Hertz Gold Plus Rewards Five Star benefits that Amex Platinum customers receive was as follows:
– 15% Discount,
– Upgrade (if available),
– 4-hour grace period, and
– Free Additional Driver.
However, having searched across several Amex and Hertz websites I am now confused as to whether the Additional Driver benefit really exists (I’ve seen it included, omitted and caveated by spouse/partner).
Does anybody have experience of whether the Free Additional Driver benefit exists, and if so, does the Additional Driver need to be present at the point of rental, or do you just need their driving licence?
TIA
As nobody’s given a useful reply yet, I’ll bump this by giving some of the extra benefits 🙂
– free time in jail in the USA because Hertz can’t keep track of their vehicles and report them stolen
– extra charges for not filling up your rental Tesla with ‘gas’
Haha… new ones on me but they sound plausible, car hire firms are generally dreadful.
Correct
Plat gives 5*
5* gives free additional driver
No the additional driver does not need to be present but you will need to provide their licence

I’ve been able to add someone not a spouse/domestic partner!

I can happily confirm both of these benefits are readily given. Just have to put the correct CDP as mentioned in the articles.
Just as an FYI you can also status match the Avis Presidents Club status over to Hertz in order to get up to Presidents Circle, all it took for me was a form online with a screenshot of the Avis Preferred membership card.
@CyberMan – I followed up on your suggestion and used the online form and Hertz came back very quickly to confirm that my status match was processed. I can now see that I’m Hertz Presidents Circle in my online account. Thank you.
Oddly, the email recommended I called the President’s Circle number and ensure that my status is applied to forthcoming reservations. I did that but the person on the call didn’t understand the purpose. As far as they were concerned my loyalty number was in the reservations and therefore the stations would know my status. My guess is that the relevance of the request applies to new customers who booked without using a loyalty number… but who knows.

In USA it works and depending on location you can pick any car that is available whichis amazing

The last one is an interesting one. It’s easy to fill up a ‘gas’ car on your way to the airport; how would you do that with a Tesla? You’d have to find a near supercharger site and sit there for an hour or so while it charges no? Not a great solution!
