Forums Payment cards American Express Amex preferred healthcare provider in Florida?

Does anyone know if AMEX has a preferred healthcare provider in Florida e.g. if you had to go to an Emergency Room near Disney, do AMEX Insurance prefer a particular company to use?

At the risk os stating the bleedin’ obvious, this is something you’d want to check with Amex themselves, particularly given how US healthcare costs can mount; emergency care is particularly expensive.

Amex Plat has a 24 hour line for medical emergencies at +44 (0) 20 3126 4109 so you can do this at any time if it is very urgent.

That said, if it is a genuine life-threatening or critical emergency, where delay would lead to harm, then no insurer can reasonaably refuse use of the healthcare facility that is necessary to resolve that – which is likely to be whatever form of emergency care you can access the quickest.

I can check but would likely be quicker and useful to others, if someone already had experience of this. I’ll come back and post what I find.

As policy terms and underwriters can and do change, going on someone past experience, on a policy which may be offered on different terms to yours, is probably not the right approach.

As others have intimated, you’re going about this the wrong way.

Thanks all. Seems the ‘call them first’ option is the only option (as mentioned by others).

    Yes.

But also login to Amex insurance (your card account login), if it’s like mine you’ll see emergency and non-emergency numbers to call, they can assist with locating treatment, you can download your policy details. Also I would download a certificate on insurance dated for the trip.

Fwiw I called them 5-6 years ago to check where to go, they said just choose where I wanted and start the claim process once I had details.
