Hi,
I got a “Spend GBP 300 or more, get GBP 100 back” on my AMEX Plat, but one of the T&Cs states “Offer only valid on prepaid hotel and car hire booked online at travel.amex.co.uk”. Is this really only limited to prepaid hotels and car hire? I’m sure that in the past I’ve used similar AMEX travel promos on plane tickets (100 off 400 spend at the time, I believe).
Is this exclusion new, or has it always been there? Has anyone succeeded in triggering the credit while booking plane tickets? Hoping the above would be applicable to BA flights and the T&C are a mistake…
One would assume that if not prepaid then the merchant will be the hotel when you arrive and thus not Amex Travel which will not trigger the £100 cashback. I believe it is the same for availing of the 2x points on Plat and 3x on Amex Gold when using Amex Travel.
I was hoping it would work for airline tickets booked via AMEX Travel, like it did for prior similar promotions. I’m not use if those had similar wording or not. Last time I used one was in 2021 but it definitely worked for BA tickets.
Now that Amex Travel is using Expedia it is possible that flight charges go through in the same way as Expedia, with the fees element going through as Amex and the fare itself going through directly as spend via the airline.
So is this unlikely to trigger if used for flights?
Does this mean that if you have a £200 voucher too you could do a £500 booking for only £200? If so big incentive for me to get on and work out where to spend the £200 voucher.
AMEX offers generally do stack. Do you have the above AMEX Travel offer on your Business Plat (that’s the version of the card that has the GBP 200 annual credit, right?)

Have this offer across two cards (mine and wife’s), however, is there any clever way of using both cards for a single hotel booking? As far as I am aware call center bookings wouldn’t trigger this offer, would like to avoid splitting the hotel nights into two separate bookings. TIA

I did a dummy booking a few weeks ago and it worked for flights
So the same offer credit triggered even though it had the pre-paid hotels and car hires only text in the T&Cs? Did you get an email?

Offer triggered after I bought a plane ticket for GBP 300+. Got an email confirmation of having used the offer overnight. Now let’s see if the credit posts.
Worthwhile noting that this wasn’t a GBP 100 genuine saving. The ticket I bought was GBP 306 via BA but GBP 327 via Amex Travel. A GBP 80 saving is still great, though.
@AET Did you receive the £100 credit for the flight tickets in the end?
I got an email that the offer had triggered, but the credit still hasn’t been applied to my account. Not unusual for a posting to take 2-3 weeks so not too worried. Will update the thread once it posts.

The credit just posted to my account 6 days after the transaction.

Thank you. I am off to booking a flight ticket to get the Amex cash back.
