I am travelling with my 16 year old son to Amsterdam for 30 hours over 2 days and looking for ideas to have a great time.
It may be raining.
He won’t be interested in too many museums. likes fun things
happy to walk/cycle
What can I do whilst there?
I have booked Anne Frank Museum
Is Heineken factory a good idea?
boat trip suggestions? which avoid red light district.
what can we do at night? (remember 16 y/o son!)
anyway, any suggestions to jam pack the time(when it may be raining) would be appreciated.

this place is great fun while def not being a museum…..
Tony’s Chocolonely shop is a must to design your own bars… it takes a few hours to make them.
Boat trip for sure. Pure Boats is the best- though most of their trips offer unlimited booze so perhaps not worth it… Flagship is excellent too. Just avoid the “mass tourist” ones full of po-faced visitors listening to dull audio commentary.
De Hallen for a buzzing “food hall” and more with a great vibe in and around it.
9 Streets or De Pijp to wander round, with great independent shops and food options
Nemo science museum, if he is into that kind of stuff.
Waterloo flea market, perhaps.
There must be a boat-house museum in the centre as well.
and a guided bike tour…
If you are into food Jordaan District walking/eating tour is nice. Vegan junk food cafe is worth a meal. Museum Ons’Lieve Heer Op Solder is different type of place to visit.
Thank you for all the advice.
Can you buy tickets on ANY tram or bus in amsterdam with a credit card?
I don’t want to get stuck without being able to pay
thanks

Best to buy a 2 day unlimited use tickets £15 or thereabout. You can either download the GVB app and go though the process of getting a OV chipkart or just buy them at the airport GVB desk or at Centraal station.

Wander the red light district. Hey, it’s 2022, there won’t be anything there he hasn’t already seen on the internet 😀
More helpfully…. 😉
A teenager-friendly entry point for the museum-averse is Straat (graffiti art) or even Foam (modern photography). The Van Gogh is also very easy going.
If he’s into football, are Ajax playing?
The A’Dam tower with the swing at the top, This Is Holland simulator and EYE film museum form a teen-friendly entertainment complex on the north side of the water opposite Centraal.
