Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

Booked Iberia flights with BA Avios companion voucher to South America 3 weeks ago for December.

Now BA are saying that their back office did not take the payment (although I had given them my amex card details). Our tickets have therefore not been issued and, of course, the reward flights are no longer available. They are contacting Iberia to try to sort something out (it will take them 24-48 hours).

We have booked all hotels and internal flights!

    Any ideas/back-up plans?

I presume you have emails confirming your booking. If so only back up plan is to hold BA to account.

It’s usually ticketing that triggers the booking confirmation/e-ticket receipt but even without this, but hopefully some evidence of the confirmed flights, BA will sort it out.

It’s a real issue as other OW airlines do systematically auto cancel unticketed direct bookings although BA doesn’t which is why it can afford to leave bookings unticketed then falling into the trap of credit data no longer being valid.
