I will have enough points and a companion voucher to be able to book 2 Business Class flights to Cape Town next March ( leaving either the 1st or 2nd March 2024 ).
Unfortunately there are no flights available to Cape Town and I understand that this is a very popular route.
There are flights to JHB which will be fine, however , there are no return flights on the 17th March from Cape Town or JHB.
I thought that this was because of the mobile app and have checked online through the BA Executive Club website reward finder
Am I doing something wrong ?
Thank you
No, there just aren’t any flights available. You could book the out leg and cross your fingers something comes up later for the inbound?
You’ve left it a bit late to book such a popular route – these seats are getting snapped up as soon as they are released at T-355. If your companion voucher is the new type, you could search from the regions which might open up extra availability (Rob has done an article explaining why this is).

I’m pretty sure the availability issue will be simply that the flights have all gone. There is just a chance that you are falling foul of the reported issue with return searches, so you could try searching one-way from JNB and see if anything pops up.
There is plenty of availability from CPT and JNB in March, just not in CW so I think it’s safe to say they’ve been taken. There are 2 PE seats available from JNB on March 18th which might be better than nothing? Also try a search from the regions as per my suggestion above.
Thank you
Im waiting for 85000 points to be transferred this week and will be able to book
Do you think that it’s worth booking the inbound flight and waiting and hoping more seats are released later ?
If I did this , would I still be able to use my companion voucher if I’m not booking both at the same time ?
I will give the 18th March from JNB some thought although wanted to spend time in Cape Town and Durban
Thank you all for being so helpful. I’m very new to this
