Morning. Just opened coinbase account and offered funding through credit or debit card. Any experience to if avios Barclaycard would charge cash advance fees for this? Thanks
Many card companies flat-out refuse to allow you to use their services to buy crypto at all. I have a crypto.com account and this is getting increasingly difficult to top up. Putting Curve in the mix might help.
I tried to do that with Curve + Chase and Curve + Starling. Both attempts got rejected.
I wouldn’t recommend to use it for crypto anyway in case you break the Ts and Cs and they will likely to shut your account.

Ask reddit to see which banks are more friendly to your crypto exchange.
It is against Curve’s T&Cs afaik.Many credit card companies prohibit transactions with crypto companies (ie not just applying cash advance fees) which is unsurprising if you look at the huge number of FOS complaints from cardholders trying to use s75 to get money back from transactions that have gone sour.
Re coinbase – make sure to use the pro interface, much lower fees.
I’d personally avoid using credit cards or even main current account to fund crypto exchanges. Monzo (debit) is your friend to fund coinbase although it has been a while since I have had to do one. Monzo also works with crypto.com still, in that to avoid fees, you do a bank transfer to your crupto.com FIAT wallet, then transfer that to the crypto.com debit card or to buy crypto, which avoids the transaction fee.
