Hi everyone,
I have a Virgin Atlantic credit card that I’m planning to downgrade to the fee-free version, which requires a £20,000 spend to get the voucher. My annual spend is roughly £25,000, but I might hold back on spending too much on it for now.
If there’s a decent alternative card with good perks for around £15,000 annual spend, I’d consider switching to that instead.
And In six months, I’ll reapply for the Virgin card to take advantage of the bonus if that’s allowable. Any recommendations? As obviously in six months time I will spend £10,000 on the fee based Virgin Atlantic credit card to get the voucher
There’s a whole section on credit cards on this website…

The biggest drawback IMHO of the Virgin premium card (and I have one) is the limited scope to use the voucher, given the Virgin route network and my preferences for leisure travel. If you are expecting to use one voucher a year, you should probably just keep the premium card. There’s no similar card with a better return of miles, nor a premium card with significantly lower fees.
At some point, perhaps soon, perhaps in a few years, the Virgin cards will be closed to new applications (assuming the Nationwide take over works as expected). If the vouchers and miles are good for you, you’d be kicking yourself if you closed the account in the hope of a sign up bonus and then found you could not get it again.

And in 6 mints SH time V Money may turn you down. There is no guarantee they will just give you a new card.
