Hi ,
I’m wondering if there are any major disadvantages to booking 2 one way flights (ABZ-LHR-BAR) instead of a return. ? My dates are fixed so I was planning of booking each leg 355 days in advance.
Thanks
If you’ve read the 241 threads you’ll see this is mentioned regularly – the only real downside is that you’d be on the hook for 2 lots of cancellation charges if you cancelled the trip.
Does BA fly to Qionghai Bo’ao, though, lol?!
Plus if outward is cancelled or you get irrops on the journey your position for having the return modified alongside whatever it takes to fix the irrops or cancellation, is a lot better if return same ticket as outward.
For me to do it there would have to be a strong reason such as very considerably lower local pricing on the return, if the return was in fact the start or part of another ticket, or if booking the return separately avoided a chunk of tax such as departing Singapore or Brasil.

Thanks. I wasn’t planning on using a 2-4-1. I would do miles / cash though.
Generally one way flights are (much) more expensive than returns, especially the outbound leg.
